The agri-food group Cris-Tim, controlled by the family of entrepreneur Radu Timiș, has decided for the first time to include external members in the company’s Board of Directors. The decision was approved at the General Shareholders’ Meeting in March 2026 and marks an important step in the process of strengthening corporate governance within one of the best-known companies in the Romanian food industry.

According to information published in the economic press, three specialists with international experience have been appointed to the company’s leadership structure: Mirela Covășă, James Simmons, and Vasileios Stavrou. The appointments were proposed by the shareholder RangeGlow Limited, an entity controlled by the Timiș family. The inclusion of independent board members is a common practice among companies seeking to strengthen decision-making processes and develop long-term strategies.

Mirela Covășă has more than two decades of experience in finance and corporate governance. She worked for nearly ten years in audit and financial consulting at PwC, and later held leadership positions in listed companies in the real estate and energy sectors. Her professional activity includes participation in boards of directors and coordination of audit committees, areas that are essential for financial oversight and decision-making transparency.

James Simmons comes from the field of corporate strategy and international management. Within the Unilever Group, he held leadership roles in strategy and operational development across several regions. His experience includes organizational transformation projects, brand development, and expansion into international markets—competencies particularly relevant for companies in the fast-moving consumer goods sector.

Vasileios Stavrou is an executive director within the Valvis Group and has experience in the management of companies in the food and beverage industry. His activity is linked to the development of premium brands, expansion into foreign markets, and operational management in a sector characterized by intense competition and pressure on costs.

The Cris-Tim Group is one of the leading producers of meat products in Romania, with integrated activities that include meat processing, the production of processed meat products, and food distribution. The company operates modern production facilities, employs approximately 2,500 people, and exports products to several European markets.

The appointment of independent members to the Board of Directors reflects a broader trend toward the professionalization of leadership in Romanian food industry companies. The integration of specialists with international experience can contribute to strengthening development strategies, increasing decision-making transparency, and enabling faster adaptation to changes in the European food market.
